The founders behind Crossguard Cyber, committed to your business's security and success.

Alec Swartz
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Alec Swartz is the Founder and CEO of Crossguard Cyber, bringing enterprise-grade cybersecurity to the small and mid-sized businesses that power local industry. His belief is simple: "The organizations that keep our communities running deserve the same caliber of protection as the largest enterprises, delivered in a way that actually fits how they operate."
Alec's path into cybersecurity started with six years as an Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Air Force, where he pieced together data from multiple sources to expose enemy capabilities and vulnerabilities, work that directly shaped how those threats were neutralized. That experience carried into his transition to cyber defense. Along the way, he's watched small and mid-sized businesses get targeted precisely because attackers assume they're unprotected. Crossguard grew out of that firsthand view: local businesses need a partner who takes those threats as seriously as he does.
That commitment is backed by real expertise. As a GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) and an Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Alec understands both how attackers operate and how to stop them, a standard he holds Crossguard to across its Guard, Fortify, and Command tiers, delivering serious security, straight answers, and a partner who sticks around for the long haul.

Spencer Heath
Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Spencer Heath is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Crossguard Cyber, where he leads the company's technical strategy and security operations. He brings eight years of experience in high stakes defensive cyber operations, giving him a depth of expertise that small and mid-sized businesses rarely have access to outside of large enterprises and government agencies.
Spencer holds a GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) certification and is an Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), a combination that reflects his well rounded command of both network defense and offensive security tactics.
Spencer founded Crossguard Cyber to close a gap he saw across Hampton Roads and Northern North Carolina, where local businesses were often underserved by generic IT providers or priced out of real cybersecurity protection entirely. Under his leadership, Crossguard's Guard, Fortify, and Command service tiers deliver enterprise grade security built for businesses of every size.
We saw too many SMBs get hit — and get sold the wrong fix
Time and again, we saw small businesses treated as an afterthought: slow help desks, security bolted on only after a breach, and IT vendors more focused on ticket volume than actual outcomes. Crossguard exists to flip that model — proactive, security-first management that scales with your business instead of outgrowing it.

What guides how we work
Security first, always
Every recommendation we make is filtered through one question: does this actually reduce your risk? Not upsells — real protection.
Plain-English communication
You shouldn't need a computer science degree to understand your own IT environment. We explain what matters, in terms that make sense.
Outcomes over tickets
We measure success by uptime, response time, and risk reduction — not by how many tickets we can close.
Why businesses choose to work with us
Security-first, not security-added
Every plan — even our entry tier — includes managed EDR with 24/7 SOC monitoring. Security isn't an upsell here, it's the foundation.
Real humans, fast response
No offshore ticket queues. Your team talks to a dedicated engineer who knows your environment, with priority response times built into every tier.
Compliance without the consultants
HIPAA and PCI-DSS alignment is built into how we manage your environment — not a separate, expensive engagement.
Transparent, per-user pricing
No long-term contracts on our core plans, no surprise line items. You know exactly what you're paying for and why.
Held to a higher standard
We align our internal practices and client engagements to recognized security and compliance frameworks.
